Tuesday, January 10, 2012
Frank Martin
The Anaheim Ducks will try to break even on their six-game homestand when they face off against the Pacific Division-rival Dallas Stars on Tuesday.
Anaheim lost the first three games of its lengthy stretch at home but has posted consecutive victories, including a 7-4 triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday. It marks the first time the Ducks have recorded back-to-back wins since capturing four straight from Oct. 8-17.
Dallas, which also enters with a two-game winning streak, has won four of its last six on the road.

The Ducks have opened as 110-moneyline favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NHL Hockey Odds.
Dallas Stars (23-16-1): Dallas has scored four goals in each of its last four games and is 10-for-10 on the penalty kill over its last five contests. Jamie Benn scored twice in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers, giving him four straight multi-point performances. Benn, who has notched at least one point in 10 of his last 11 games, collected four goals and three assists in three matches last week en route to the league's "First Star of the Week" honor. Mike Ribeiro has scored four of his 10 goals this season in his last two contests.
Anaheim Ducks (12-22-6): Corey Perry recorded his fourth career hat trick Sunday as Anaheim scored more than four goals for only the second time this season and first since dropping a 6-5 decision to the Chicago Blackhawks on Nov. 25. The victory came with a price as Jonas Hiller left in the first period with a lower-body injury. With backup Dan Ellis also hurt, Iiro Tarkki made his NHL debut and picked up the win despite allowing three goals on 10 shots. J.F. Jacques, who was recalled from Syracuse of the American Hockey League on Sunday along with Tarkki, delivered an illegal hit to the head of Columbus' R.J. Umberger for which he received a three-game suspension on Monday.
1.
Dallas has won three straight meetings with Anaheim and is 4-0-2 over the last six games
in the all-time series.
2. Anaheim's Teemu Selanne will become the 52nd player in NHL history to
appear in 1,300 games on Tuesday. Detroit's Nicklas Lidstrom (1,535),
Washington's Roman Hamrlik (1,346) and Philadelphia's Jaromir Jagr (1,307) are
the only other active players to reach the milestone.
